Q & A Interview

Autumn 2013

My Body

"I love my body and my body loves me. I take care of my body to build a strong vessel so I can easily fulfill my purpose. I work from where my body is presently, not comparing myself to a perfect ideal, other people, or to myself in the past. I get my hair cut, receive dental and eye care, and schedule appropriate medical and alternative healing appointments. I care about my body and do nurturing things to support my well-being. My body is my friend."

Greetings from the Editor:

Art From the Heart

Some of you may not know that my undergraduate degree is in art education. This background was great for helping me create art projects for my three daughters when young. Through the years I kept up with watercolor painting. A couple of years ago my husband took a watercolor painting course which launched a new direction for his life and mine. We each paint on a regular basis and have an art studio in each of our residences (Castle Rock, Colorado and Houston, Texas).

I am proud to say I am launching my on-line art gallery of my work. Color Healing is my theme. As you view the gallery notice the colors that catch your attention. These are colors that feed you emotionally. They balance and uplift as well. In addition each painting has an affirmation.

Visit the gallery and Enjoy!

And if this is not enough, my husband and I are in a Chinese Art Show. If you live in Houston, come to the Open House, Saturday November 9, from 4-7 PM.

Fortunate Blessings,

Suzanne

Self-Critical or Self-Inquiry?

By Suzanne E. Harrill

A friend recently sent me a questionnaire with personal questions, like what color would you be if you were a crayon or do you like red or pink better. She had answered the questionnaire with the offering to get to know each other better. As I read her answers, one of the questions jumped off the page at me: what is your most negative thought about yourself. She answered, “Thinking I am too fat.” To be honest with myself, I had to admit to having a similar answer (and then I watched myself criticize myself for having such negative thoughts)...

My Spiritual Awakening And Journey

by Steven Vernon

In my late teens, I had an awakening that started me on a journey that has brought me much joy and fulfillment. Drawn to books on literature, philosophy and religion, I had many moments of intense insight. This is my story.

I was born and lived on the Caribbean island of Jamaica until I was 17, and in 1977 my siblings and I joined our parents in the United States. My parents had resettled in this country 7 years earlier, because my father had lost his business and had wanted to start a new life for us. Meeting him after 7 years was an incomparable experience. To me he was the perfect image of success – striking, dapper, and eloquent, and at the time a young financial planner in a large and well established firm...
