Greetings from the Editor:
Power Talks
Recently, my husband and I were each asked to give a 10-minute power talk at a spiritual retreat with a theme of A Higher Way. It was a great honor and we prepared well, yet, it stressed us immensely for two reasons. One, the audience was seasoned so just any old talk would not do, and two, it is a challenge to boil down ideas to include only the heart of your ideas. If you have ever given a presentation or a talk you may recall it takes time to get comfortable in front of a new audience and them with you. It is much easier to give a long presentation as you warm up to each other, than it is to speak for 10 minutes. Every word is important and there is little time to be extemporaneous.
Standing up to begin a talk makes me nervous, even after speaking for 30 years. I still have to override my early conditioning that says, "Shine -- but not too brightly." I felt my fear and did it anyways and am glad I met the challenge. I practiced a tip I learned from someone years ago. He said when you are critical of yourself for not giving the perfect talk, say, "This is the best talk I could give tonight." This has stayed with me and has helped me many times. Both my talk and my husband’s are now an article for you to read in this issue. Enjoy some food for thought.
Fortunate Blessings,
Suzanne

Even when we know a lot about how life works and are doing the right things, journaling, affirming, visualizing, meditating, and praying, we get stuck sometimes not manifesting the results desired. It could be an annoying habit we want to change or a destructive pattern, or maybe we have failed to attract that new job, life-partner, or more money. It could be that we are resisting taking a risk that we know is necessary. Then again, it could be that something out of the blue has crossed our path and we are totally at a loss as to how to move forward. How do we move through impasses that stop us from getting what we want to experience or explore?
